Trusting God enough to forgive people-2

 Who says Revenge isn't Powerful?

Dear Single Mum,

Let us face a basic truth, when we are hurt unjustly, wronged or even harmed-we all have the need to have our hurt acknowledged and vindicated.

We go through a period of deep emotional instability, disequilibrium, some vulnerability ,an intense embarrassment and a visible form of injustice. At this stage there is  no way that this wrong can be ignored except to face it head-on. We want some sort of apology, explanation or even remorse from the other party. When this does not surface ,we face another round of disappointment.

As victims in this case, we can develop some sense of entitlement in our hearts as a coping mechanism. This self-pity-party gives out some enormous energy that requires heavy maintenance to keep us in some sort of state.

Maintenance in the form of stalking the offender, wishing them some sort of mis fortune /loss, perhaps a few calculated attempts at organising their epic falls or even death.

Mean while forgiveness frees us from dwelling on this aspect of our life that is bound to hold other relationship hostage. Facing the reality that we  can't control how people around us handle the injustice that we  have faced either morally or legally. is liberating The high maintenance routine of drafting and rehearsing revenge mission can be directed at other relationships  and activities in a positive manner.

Forgiveness in itself is satisfying :transferring  the debt that the other person is owing us to Gods account to deal with.

God in his grand plan has established human systems to deal with all evil doers at the first instance. Professionals, the police, court ,disciplinary councils etc are all established route supported by God  to pursue justice yet it isn't unusual for dis-satisfaction to come from them.

This is where our faith in God's promises comes to bear.

Do you trust God enough to handle this matter at this stage?

Do you really ?
